Capes of Power

capes of powerI was inspired to create Capes of Power by my sister-in-law who has  three precious boys. She was asking me one day what I was going to do for boys with cancer and serious illnesses, since I had created “Princess Dresses of Love” for girls. I started thinking and praying to be shown insight on what I should create.

Upon graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering, my husband was hired by Appalachian Power Company. In the early years working with the company, he acquired the nickname “Flash Gordon,” so I knew I wanted it to be associated superheroes and with electricity and lightning bolts. The idea of a cape came to me one day after seeing my friend’s son running around the house with a cape on imitating a superhero.

All it took was to see a little boy with a cape on, thinking he had all the power to conquer the world. That was my inspiration for creating “Capes of Power.” The first cape is called “Electro Boy” and the second cape for little girls is called “Electricity.” My inspiration for the girl’s cape was my daughter who has long red hair and has abundant energy.
